THE REV. Fr. DREW WAYNE SCHMOTZER
The Reverend Fr. Drew Wayne Schmotzer was licensed by the Bishop in Cyprus and the Gulf, The Rt. Rev. Michael Lewis, to serve as the Parish Priest and Chaplain of St. Martin's Anglican Church, Sharjah on 26th February, 2016.
Prior to coming to St. Martins, he served as a locum at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Algiers, Algeria (2015-2016), and prior to that he spent seven years (2008-2015) working as the Chaplain to The Most Rev. Dr. Mouneer Hanna Anis, the Bishop of the Diocese of Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa, and the Primate of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East covering 22 countries.
While in Egypt, Fr. Drew served as a priest at All Saints Cathedral in Cairo, Egypt; served as the Rector of the Arabic speaking congregation of St. Mark's in Menouf, Egypt; served as the interim Rector of St. John the Baptist Church in Maadi, Egypt; served as a church-planting Chaplain to the Red Sea; and taught at the Alexandria School of Theology.
Fr. Drew received his First Degree in French Literature and English Composition in 2005 from The University of Akron (Ohio, USA), then completed a Master's in Divinity from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge (Pennsylvania, USA). While in seminary, he served at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Pittsburgh as a seminarian and Deacon. While in Egypt he audited a Masters in Early African Christianity from the Center for Early African Christianity. He also was trained by Peacemaker International in Washington DC and Egypt, and holds the rank of Shodan (blackbelt) in Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujitsu, a Japanese martial art.

Fr. Drew enjoys playing several musical instruments, studying different languages and cultures, and has traveled to 70 countries around the world.
